Pub Hack 2016

We arrived at 8am in a disguised pub in the middle of Portsmouth, that has since been turned into a co-work space for digital creatives, doing just that. Pub Hack is in it’s 5th year and surprisingly there were more new faces this year than old, a credit to its success. Pub Hack throws its doors open to digital professionals of all disciplines for one common goal; to create beautiful, engaging and entertaining things.

Armed with free tea and coffee, the Tilt team settled in for the 10 hour duration, the mission – to create, the brief – Heroes & Villains. Our ideas factory started to produce content beyond belief and we entered into a love/hate cycle of loving an idea and then realising we couldn’t do it within the time allowed. This sustained us for the first two hours until we landed on a winning combination of a mash up between Top Trumps and Cards Against Humanity. The premises being, ever wanted to know who would win in a fight between Jesus and Justin Bieber? Or perhaps Mary Berry and Lemongrab? Ever wanted to know what kind of weird nonsense mission statement the two of them would create?

Pub Hack is more than just a team building exercise. This is a demonstration of how much you can achieve when you come together as a creative team, combine an eclectic and diverse skill set, and get to work over a short period of time. It’s about living and breathing creative digital experiences, and we loved it. We will definitely be going next year, after all we have to defend our title.
