Growth Mindset

STRATEGY/MOTION

The Brief

How can we encourage leaders to understand that having a growth mindset can help your team rise to ever greater heights.

The Solution

Bring the story to life through animation and illustration, using famous figures we can all relate to.

Background

Our Approach

Is talent everything? Or does real success come from continuously improving your approach?

This distinction is a critical mindset shift, both in terms of our own performance, and how we might judge others from a position of leadership. If you believe that talent is fixed, then how will you be able to help others to grow and improve?

The team at Deloitte University wanted to create a piece that helped leaders to engage with this concept. They also wanted to spark a little energy and provoke a reaction as colleagues left their face-to-face sessions.

We brought growth mindset to life through the story of different tennis stars – using a bold minimalist illustration style.

On the one hand, there’s John McEnroe. Successful, furiously competitive, but ultimately hampered by a fatal flaw – his belief that talent was everything and that everyone else was to blame for his failures.

On the other hand, there’s Serena Williams. Abundantly talented, yet driven by a growth mindset. Even at her lowest she wouldn’t blame others for her stumbles, she would raise her bar ever higher. She holds the most Grand Slam titles in the history of the game.

We also created a bold visual piece designed to play as f-t-f sessions ended. It nudges participants to remember that learning doesn’t end as they leave the room; they should always be continuously improving.

You are multipliers at Tilt. When I come to you with a challenge, you come back with a solution that gets the best out of the subject matter. Everyone loves the work.
