Our reverse advent calendar with FareShare.
What happens when a load of independent thinkers get together to focus on a cause? When colleagues with a bunch of opinions, life experiences, identities, and tastes align to literally put food on somebody’s table.
This festive period, the people of Tilt grabbed cardboard boxes, filling them with tins, tea, and toiletries for the less fortunate. We call it a reverse advent calendar, though in fact we keep it running until early January, when Christmas donations are running dry and people are most in need.
Over the period, we saw colleagues putting themselves in other’s shoes to give generously, making donations despite feeling the pinch themselves, and even using the experience to teach their children about giving to the less fortunate. All in all, Tilters donated 100kg of food, equivalent to 238 meals.
It all goes to FareShare Sussex, an organisation with a simple yet beautiful approach. They sort and redistribute the donations, maximising their potential and social value by getting them to the charities and community groups who need them the most. A wonderful way to make sure no donation goes to waste.
In the words of Stephen Brett, Partnerships Manager at FareShare:
“The very lovely people at Tilt have been amazingly generous with their donations to FareShare Sussex & Surrey through our Reverse Advent Calendar initiative. Not only have they given large amounts of food and other essentials, but they have been very thoughtful with how and when they collected and delivered their donations. Thank you from all of us here!”
As a B Corp, and a member of The Climate Pledge, we’re proud to see our colleagues take so enthusiastically to initiatives like this. Proud to work shoulder-to-shoulder with these sharp-as-a-tack minds and heartfelt hearts.
