Paul joins the Career Clinic Panel at CopyCon 2026

What actually gets copywriters hired, and what's quietly working against them? Our Head of Creative Strategy is speaking at CopyCon 2026 to provide a little clarity.

Want to find out? Come join us.

Paul Mallaghan will be joining the Career Clinic panel at this year's CopyCon, the UK's biggest copywriting conference, taking place online on 24th April.

It's a session close to our hearts. At Tilt, we're always on the lookout for brilliant writers, storytellers and creative thinkers; so we know first-hand how tricky the hiring process can be on both sides of the table. Paul will be joining hiring managers from Bloom & Wild, Booking.com, Reed Words and Sticky Content for a no-holds-barred conversation about what really happens when applications land on a hiring manager's desk. The whole thing is hosted by Jess Bashford of Human After All.

The format sounds brilliant. There's a live audience poll to kick things off, a walkthrough of the hiring journey from the employer's side, and a Myth or Reality segment where panellists tackle some bold claims ... including whether cover letters are dead, how easy it is to spot AI-generated work, and whether most jobs are filled before they're ever advertised. Every answer has to include something actionable. No vague advice allowed.

Paul's been leading creative strategy at We Are Tilt for years, working across projects for clients like Deloitte, Diageo, KPMG and Vodafone. Before that, he cut his teeth in TV production and journalism, contributing to the BBC and the Guardian, before moving into copywriting and digital production for brands including John Lewis, Penguin Random House and Nationwide. So when it comes to knowing what great creative work looks like, and what makes someone stand out in a hiring process, he's got a few thoughts.

This year's CopyCon theme is AI vs Humanity. It's a full day of keynotes, workshops and breakout sessions exploring the balance between creativity, human storytelling and AI tools. Right up our street.

The Career Clinic kicks off at 14:30 on 24th April. You can grab tickets and check out the full schedule at copywritingconference.com.

We'll see you there.
